Haig Alexander Eskandarian is an EMBO advanced long-term fellow currently at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, in Switzerland. He is a microbiologist utilizing bioengineering to develop advanced imaging techniques in order to discover novel principles underlying infectious bacterial diseases. Haig holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Richmond, a master’s degree in developmental biology from New York University, and a Ph.D. in microbiology and cell biology from the Université Paris Descartes while working at the Institut Pasteur and completed in 2013. He has since been working as a post-doctoral fellow in Lausanne, Switzerland in advanced imaging techniques for dynamically visualizing bacterial surfaces. Haig has equally been active, since 2011, in organizing and teaching advanced lecture and practical courses in biology (host-pathogen interactions), in Yerevan. He is dedicated to developing science education and fundamental research in Armenia.
